The standard name for the G3 250 Powerbook is 'Wallstreet"

The max RAM it will hold is 512mb (256mb sticks 1 in each slot) you need to use low profile DIMMs.

Check www.dealram.com (http://www.dealram.com) for comparison ram prices.

The Wallstreet generally came with a CD-ROM drive. If yours didn't it must have been removed. You'll have to do a bit of digging to find one if you want the original equipment. Most drives for the Lombard or G3 series of Powerbooks should fit but you'll want to verify that with a seller before purchasing. I can't say for newer drives. As for CDRW you'll have to do some shopping. Of course there's always that SCSI connector on the back and almost any SCSI external CDR or CDRW will work with that.

As for the 500mhz upgrade. I'd wait. Max out the RAM first and see if that's fast enough for you. You'll see some increase fom the extra 250mhz of the Sonnet card but you'll see DRASTIC speed differences if you max out the RAM. If, after you add the RAM, it's still not fast enough you can always add the card and reap the benefit of both more RAM and the card.
