alternative to counter

Hello,

I recently put a post up asking people their opinion on my web site. One comment was that the counter did not look professional. I agree but I do want to keep a check on the number of people visiting my site. Is there any way that for example I could be sent an email every time someone acceses my site.

I don't know where you get your hosting from, but the easiest method and most invisible is to talk to your host provider. They generally have software that runs on the server and keeps track of everything. There's no need for counters on pages or anything like that and most of the time the service is free of charge.

If you already pay for hosting you can try typing http://yourdomain.com/log in the address bar of your web browser and if software is running you might get a read out. It's worth a shot.
