Freezing after resuming from display being off.

Hi there,
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on an older Compaq Presario r4000. I never used to have this problem, but one day and auto update told me it was patching a problem with the OS freezing after resuming from sleep.

Ever since then, if I let my monitor turn off, the OS is forzen for a good 3-4minutes. I don't mean resuming from sleep or hibernate, just simply allowing my monitor to turn off after 5mins of being idle, the machine is still on and running.

I don't have this problem on my deskptop, or my media center pc. Just my laptop.

Any ideas or threads you can point me to would be awesome! Thanks

Laptop:
CPU - AMD Athlon 3500+
RAM - 2GB DDR
GPU - ATI Radeon 200m Xpress
HDD - 90GB Fujitsu
O/S - Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Asus has the BIOS up to version 1017.

Applying that may be one of the first steps to try.
