Black Screen after Windows Update

I am using Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

After a new Windows Update yesterday, there is no response when turning on the Dell Vostro laptop, other than the blue lights working. There is no cursor or anything on the screen at all. My attempt to boot into Safe Mode did nothing as well. There is no response to F8 at all.

Any ideas on how to proceed? Thanks.

Are you getting the 1st screen, probably dell logo? It just goes blank when it starts trying to load Windows?

No, there's nothing but a black screen. No logo, no cursor, no graphics whatsoever.... just a black screen.

Try taking out the memory, small cover on bottom should have 2 small screws holding the cover on. Take both out (if you have 2 sticks), now just put one back in and try and boot. NO take it out and put the other one back in. Could be coincidental that one of the memory sticks went bad.

Also, remove the battery and just use the AC Charger, hit the power button and immediately start tapping the "F2" key does a screen come up into SETUP?
