Excel and Circular Reference

I am using Excell 2007 on a Win 10 computer. When I attempt to select a column of numbers, selected Auto Sum and hit enter I get a Circular Reference error. I turned off all the Excel rules but still got the error message. Also entered the formula manually with the same message.

Check each cell you are summing up. One of them may include a formula that includes the cell you are placing your AutoSum in.
e.g.
A1 = 10
A2 = 20
A3 = 30
A3 = 40
A4 = SUM(A1:A3)
A5 = SUM(A2:A4)
A6 = SUM(A3:A5)
A7 = A6+A8
A8 = SUM(A1:A7)

Because A7 formula includes value of A8, A8 formula can't use value of A7.
