Active Directory Domain Service missing

I have a Canon PIXMA MX700 All-in-One Printer that no longer is working since I connected to new PC with Windows 7 (64-bit). I can locate the printer but the computer will not recognize it when trying to use it.
When I go to print it shows “No printers installed”. So I click on “Add printer” and got Error Message: “The Active Directory Domain Service is currently unavailable". Then I went to the Canon website and asked for help. They emailed back: “Please try the following to resolve the issue:
1. Click Start.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click System and Security.
4. Click Administrative Tools.
5. Click Services.
6. Right click the Active Directory Domain service and click Start or Restart.”
But when I got to “Click Services”, there was no “Active Directory Domain service”. I searched my computer for this and it does not exist. Canon said to contact Microsoft to resolve this problem before I could install my printer.
So, what is “Active Directory Domain service”? Why isn’t it on my computer? And how do I get it?

Have you gone to the Canon website, found and downloaded Windows 7 compatible drivers for the printer, saved them to the hard drive, then installed them?

The message you're getting usually means the drivers you have are not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.
