Bios - another dead end...sorta

I've made multiple attempts to access my BIOS files so that I can check to see if sound has been disabled...all to no avail...no matter how or what I try, Windows won't let me get to BIOS!!! I followed your link...no go...I searched on line for "how do I access my bios in windows 10" and got detailed instructions which took me, yet again, to a dead end...nothing that indicated I could access BIOS...just a bunch of options to access for different functions but NOTHING regarding sound OR BIOS!!

I guess that's about it guys and gals, unless somebody else has something else for me to try?????

I think I'm gonna take my CPU to a local IT guy and see if he (or she) can figure out what the hell is going on here?!?!?!?!?

Thanks for all the help,

The THom-Guy

When you start the computer do you see anything possibly in the bottom left corner that says Press Del to enter Setup?

When restarting the computer try holding down the F10 key to see if that will get you into BIOS.

HP uses several keys to access the BIOS, normally you use these keys as soon as you see the HP LOGO.

F1, or F8, or F10, once you see the Windows Logo, its too late.

Also may try:

Turn computer on and immediately press the ESC key repeatedly until the startup menu opens, then press F10 to open up BIOS Setup

Cool A new and different problem...

Welp gang, another problem has arisen and I think it may mean the end of this particular computer/desk top...recently, the monitor has taken to shutting off...if I press the power button on the monitor and shut it off and then power it back up, it will go through the re-start monitor process, show me a screen (home or wherever I otherwise happen to be) and then go blank/dark almost immediately...am presuming this has something to do with my video card or, perhaps, my motherboard...any thoughts to start off 2020 folks???

Many thanks for your efforts to assist me in resolving my problems...I apologize for not responding sooner...have had some major medical issues to deal with that have delayed my getting back here.

If you by chance have access to another monitor, then that can rule out the video card if the other monitor works OK.

Are you using a Video Card or the on-board video of the computer?
