Problem with dll file

I cannot start any programs or applications in my pc. I am using Windows 7 OS
and starting this morning I got an error message that said that the program could not start because WkWbl90.dll is missing from my computer. It said try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. This program is Microsoft Works.
Do I find the dll file and try to install this or find a copy of Microsoft works and install it? All help will be appreciated. I can operate my computer in the safe mode, so that is a big help, but no applications will run in the normal mode.
I installed a trial copy of Microsoft Office 2007 yesterday and upgraded my free copy of Avast antivirus this morning just before the problem started, so one of those might be the culprit or else something totally different.

Hi cooley. I gather that Works is not installed on your computer. If this is the case, have you tried uninstalling the trial version of Office 2007 that you installed? My understanding is that this software is no longer available for download from Microsoft so you may have downloaded it from a dodgy site.

Ann Marie,
I do have Microsoft Works on my computer. It came installed when new. I did think that maybe the Office 2007 was the source of the problem and tried to uninstall it, but I have been unable to find it on the computer. I did a system restore first thing and that may have removed the Office 2007. The system restore didn't help. I also have Microsoft works on my netbook and am considering uninstalling the bad copy and installing the good one, but I am not sure that it would solve the problem and I am not exactly sure how to do it. Thank you for your help.

If you have the Works disk, try running a repair. To do this, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. Select Microsoft Works and click on Change > Repair. You may be prompted to insert the disk so have it handy.

Ann Marie,

Tried change and repair, but Windows Installer is not available in the safe mode (it says). I'll keep working on it . Thanks for your help.

Were you in Safe Mode? If not, it sounds like your Windows Installer installation was damaged when you installed Office. Do you have a 32bit or 64bit OS?

I tried to uninstall, change, and repair in both safe and normal modes and got the same message that the installer services could not be accessed and that it could be incorrectly installed. This may be a duplicate reply, sorry.

I went to Microsoft support and ran a fix program that did uninstall Microsoft Works, however it did nothing for fixing the problem of not being able to open any programs or applications in the normal mode.

It might help if I can see what is running on your computer. Go here and download DDS to your Desktop and doubleclick on DDS.scr to run it. When the scan has finished, two logs will open. Copy and paste both reports in this topic. The logs will be reasonably large so you may have to divide them into sections and make several posts to post them.

Here is the DDS file. I have split it in two parts per your suggestion.
