Short answer - format the partition that has XP on it from within Ubuntu and remove its boot entry from your boot manager.
Long answer - depends on what boot manager you are using, Ubuntu or Windows? If using Ubuntu, then you can go ahead and delete/format the XP partition. If you are using Windows boot loader to select Windows or Ubuntu, then wiping that boot partition will impact your ability to load into Ubuntu. Detailed instructions here. |

I just realized I didn't make a partition I just installed ubuntu. should I first uninstall ubuntu and make a partition then reinstall? When I boot up it gives me the option winXP or ubuntu.

ubuntu creates the partitions it needs. just follow the instructions provided by smurfy. or if it is confusing, you can always install ubuntu again and this time tell it to install on the whole drive.

If you are happy to reinstall Ubuntu, that will be the easiest way to go, just pay attention when it comes to the installation type - select "Erase disk and install Ubuntu" and that should dispose of XP for good.
