Mac has been constantly hanging lately

Any explanations for this?

This has only been happening recently and my Mac has just been reformatted and clean restored last year. I always have to press the power button so I can restart my laptop because I can't click anything when it hangs.

Well, that's really no information to go on.

Boot to the restore drive..

Restart and hold down the Command key and the R key while the system boots up.

Run Disk Utility and repair the disk, and repair permissions.

If any permissions were repaired, then run Repair Permissions again.

Then restart again to boot back to normal mode.

Thanks! It doesn't happen often but it gets super annoying especially when I am doing work. I'll try this suggestion and hopefully it doesn't hag anymore after that.

Also I might be thinking I downloaded a virus but I can't be sure. I don't know if Mac has an anti virus installed in the OS already.

While it's not impossible, Macs rarely get viruses. As long as you are up to date with System Updates most issues are resolved by Apple. And in many cases, downloading a "Mac Virus Protection Application" is actually the worst thing you can do. Often anything for a Mac that purports to be "virus protection" is more Malware than protection.
