Exclamation Fake DVD player virus?

Hello-
I had a fake Adobe Flash update alert pop up on my screen. I did not click on anything, but it automatically downloaded a DVD player. I have read that this is a known virus w/Macs, but Avast did not detect it. I cannot delete it. I get a msg that it cannot be deleted because it is part of the system. The download is listed as player.dmg .
Any way to get rid of this?
Thanks very much!
