Hum I just used that calculator and it says that I have a load wattage of 403 watts.

I have a 1000 watt PSU, understand that is a load wattage.

With that i5 and graphics solution, that sounds right - if not a little high for safety. Note your graphics solution is quite thrifty with a maximum draw of just 65W, and NVIDIA recommending just a 300W minimum supply.

I note most power supplies tend to be most efficient somewhere between 50 and 75% utilization, and less when underpowered. I suspect your system, even with those 10K drives and all those case fans, is sitting well under 200 watts most of the time - unless you are into hard core gaming when not "working the forums". That would me that monster 1KW supply is sitting at less than 20% utilization most of the time too.

I hope that is an 80 PLUS supply or its efficiency could easily be dropping below 70%.

Is that the same as this one? It seems they encountered excessive AC noise (ripple). I found that surprising considering OZC is typically considered a maker of higher end products. Hopefully it is a one off.

With just a basic 80 PLUS certification, it is rated at 80% efficiency at 20%, 50% and 100% loads so you are not taking a penalty when barely loading it. The good news there is it should be quiet when loafing along.

YES looks like it have had it a couple of years and no problems with it. And with the 120mm fan it is quiet.

Good to hear - or not hear, in this case!
