Trying to fix an error in vista using linux.. Need help (I'm a newbie with linux)

Hello, I recently encountered the STOP: 0x0000C1F5 in vista which basically doesn't let me boot windows at all, even in safe mode. It also BSOD's when put in the windows installation cd to try and system restore.

my full problem is here http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=38823

anyways, after digging around on the internet, I found a plausible solution here that uses linux to solve the problem
http://www.delmartian.com/TheGalacti...SKB946084.aspx

I've tried everything and this is my last hope. Otherwise I'm taking my HD to my friend's place and hooking it up as a slave and transferring off all the files then formatting the drive for a fresh restart. (Which I don't want to do, too many drivers to install, programs, and what not)

Anyways, my main point is, I have no experience with linux at all, but I really want to give this a shot.

Basically it says i need a linux live cd with ntfs-3g, then the systemrescuecd

Well, I don't really quite understand his instructions that well, and was wondering if there was anyone who could walk me through this process so I don't screw my computer up anymore beyond repair.. thanks in advance..

Hi there.
We don't really close topics here, but for future readers it would be great if you could post how you solved your problem.

Basically I followed all the steps on the http://www.delmartian.com/TheGalacti...SKB946084.aspx website, with some help.

It got rid of the BSOD that I was encountering from booting up with the vista installation CD. Still was not able to boot up windows though, So the only option is to reformat and do a clean install.
