Laptop not connecting to wireless router
Well, my brothers laptop is not connecting to my wireless router I just set up, but yet the desktop in the same room connects just fine. If I use a wired connection from the router to the laptop, it works fine.
Windows wireless zero configuration whatever does not show any wireless networks in range (router is a few feet away right now) WPA2-PSK TKIP is the encryption, but it also did not work when I shut off all encryption either (can turn it off or change it if needed) It worked fine in a different router where my brother used to live IP, DNS, gateway address, and all that is OK, and there are no IP conflicts FUBAR topology is as such: ADSL modem connected via USB to downstairs computer connected via ICS with an ethernet cable to this router as an uplink.......FUBAR, I know, but it works and saves me form buying a new modem with a working ethernet port Router: Dlink DI-524 revE Laptop: Dell Inspiron 600m |
You need to do some checking on the laptop.
Is it built in wireless? If so it will probably have Intel Wireless software rather than using Windows WZC. Is it searching for networks? How about in the local area or town hotspots? Have you tried a USB or PCCard wireless adaptor? |
fixed it, I had to find Intel's crap and get rid of the old network, then change some settings
