Take an online test and find which distro is for you.

Nice link Donny. Stickied.

how u doin
i took the test in Norwegian,engrish is all i know;) 1.Gentoo 2.Slackware
|
I got Fedora as #1 and Mandriva as #2
No surprise to me because I had Fedora first, and answered all the questions with Fedora in mind (graphical installer, Gnome over KDE, rpm based installation etc...) |
1.Mandriva.......these mysterious names is what puts a lot of people off trying them I reckon.:dizzy:
I mean, what does ubuntu mean? sounds like some pigmy tribe from the jungle!:D |
They picked Gentoo and number one for me and Slack as number 2. I do like both of those but can't believe I didn't get BSD as number one. Its either not in their list or I'm not as old school as I thought.
|
No badwayz, BSD is not on their list. Only linux distros :P

Ahhhhh well there ya have it. At least Gentoo was picked as number one for me and I can live with that as Gen rocks most hard!

The link is in the first post.
It suggested Mandriva for me and the next two were Suse and Ubuntu. I actually have Suse and Ubuntu installed, albeit as VMWare :) |

I took the test and it gave me 1. SuSe 10.0 and 2. Mandriva
I have been searching the forum here and reading a lot of posts, but I'm still a little unsure of how to do this. Should I get a book to read first? Could any of you suggest one? What I want to do is install Linux on one of my two hard-drives and then try and learn how to use it. But, I'm not even sure how to get it installed without messing everything up again. I just recently had to reformat both drives and I really don't want to screw everything up again, but if that's the only way I can learn...so be it. If someone could just add a link to the correct information if it's already been addressed, I would appreciate it. thanks, cajungenes |
