I would still get some AS5 as that is better than the stuff that comes with your heatsink/fan or your cpu assembly. Arctic silver is loads better.

Are you using a windows update for your video card? That's not good. You should be using an Nvidia driver from Nvidia's website. Windows drivers are old and mostly basic, only allowing basic options....

You're not really setting the resolution of your video card, you're setting the resolution on your monitor.

You need to make sure your monitor's refresh rate is set to 60Hz, no higher or lower...

You're welcome Ben for the solution. Ccleaner in the hands of a newbie can be dangerous. Using Disk Cleanup built into XP, works just as well.

You're right, SATA drives don't need jumpers. Have you checked in BIOS that SATA are enabled? And did you install any drivers for the SATA drive?

ATA drives need jumpers, SATA drives do not. So, take your ATA drive out, the added one, and make sure the original drive is set as Master, then set the added one as Slave via jumpers.

Since it's the easiest to replace, start with the power supply. Usually this is what "blows" on pcs, causing them to not boot up or even turn on. Don't buy a cheap one though as they can blow sooner...
