so I gave her it to use. She likes windows 10 and was wrapped in the computer so I gave it to her. And, I went back to my Toshiba KIRA dual-boot.
Apparently while she was flying back to the USA she checked all around the airports and the plane to see who else could afford a Microsoft laptop.

You COULD have got a usb hub fairly cheaply which would have given you plenty of places for everything. Never mind but next time you will know. I am sure your granddaughter is totally rapt with her favourite 'grandie" at this time. good outcome for everyone....................
