similar problem

My problem is sort of similar. When I go to use system restore (and I've checked that it is running) I get no response at all. No errors, nothing. I click and nothing happens, as if I had never clicked at all.

More info: old virus software needed to be replaced, did so. Nothing worked. Uninstalled new virus software. Still nothing works. I can connect to the internet but certain websites are blank (hotmail.com), and some don't work properly (pogo.com) and I cannot use the system restore because when I click on 'Help and Support' where it is, it I get no response at all. I thought it might be related to Java but I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Sun Java latest program and still no go.

Any clues??

If anyone has any ideas, perhaps a back way into the system restore - that would be great. This is driving me insane. I can't even search for the system restore file because the search doesn't work either (I get the silly dog but no text).

Did you get rid of the virus? If not try an online virus scan.

I did an online virus scan and it was where this all started. It found 5 viruses and got rid of them. Then I uninstalled the old antivirus system as it was outdated and installed a new antivirus program. Now I've got these issues. I thought it might be the antivirus program so I uninstalled. Nope. So now I"m stuck and I can't even do a system restore.
