Angry No Operating System Found On Any System Devices

Help me!! I don't want to buy another computer, but my system crashed the other night and now everytime I try to boot it up it shows the Compaq logo for a few seconds and goes to a black screen that reads as follows... Operating system not found on any of the systems devices. My friends and I tried putting in the Quick Restore disk that Compaq provides that didn't do crap... Than my friend tried using a systems disk and that gave me all the same messages as CocoJoe's system was giving him. Please Help.

Hi Latina-Bella, welcome to Cyber Tech Help.

If you put in the #1 Compaq disk and reboot the computer
you should be given a list of choices. I forget the exact wording
but you want a "full restore".

No actually it pulls up the screen that flashes that says Quick Restore but it never pulls up any menues or loads anything... My friend seems to think that the Hard drive it shoot... In which I would obviously have to replace that...

Then don't use the Compaq CD, just reboot and press the F8
key at one second intervals. you should get a menu...choose
"Command Prompt Only" and when it's up type
scanreg /restore
pick a date before the incident started to happen.

Hi
and welcome to CTH

same symptoms as cocojoe1 don't tell me what is going on. If I recall correct, there was all sorts of issues.

anyway
you need a good virus free boot floppy with fdisk on it
and you need some basic skills in DOS

the BIOS boot order must be set to boot from floppy

cold boot from floppy

fdisk /status
esc
esc

fdisk
y
4
esc
esc

does that see the hard disk?
and does it tell you what partition is active?

What doesn't work? The menu? F8? No dates?

Remember I can't see what you see so you have to type it all
out so I can see to

Thank you for your responces... I took the stupid computer to a tech last night and when we went to boot up the system you won't believe it... Now nothing is comming up on the screen what so ever, it's a nightmare from hell. So I called him right now on my break (I'm at work) and he said he was going to check to see if it's the processor so-on-and-so-forth... Blah blah blah it all boils down to one thing and it sounds like my computer is screwed...

I am now not getting anything on my screen. It was giving me a message before but now there's nothing. I unplug the hard drive and the cd and nothing... I took it to a tech and he said he was going to examine the processor?

Hard drive was shoot!!

I don't know if Gandalf is having the same exact problem as I, but my issue is the hard drive is shoot. So that may be his issue too. I hope that's all it is being that this is not that expensive to fix.. depending. Well good luck my fellow puter friends, and if this works for me and I get my puter fixed I will have my new internet cable connected tommorow and I will get online and message all you all and we can throw an online party... You all have been so supportive... and even though I still had to take my puter to a tech to diagnosis it you were all so willing to step in and give me the best advise evn though I don't speak Chineese So whoever reads this.. I hope you know that an actual tech would charge you anywhere from 40.00 - 100.00 for an hour of your time.. Be nice to the techs that work here so they will continue their service... remember they don't get paid, they're all volunteers so be nice:bouncy: and if all goes well I'll be online and tomorrow and let you all know what happened :-S
