JVC DVD-RW model VD-W47[DE]J

Hello everyone ! Long time no see.

I have a new problem. I have a DVD (disk)(type mentioned in title) with a film on it, recorded with a DVD-player/recorder (I do not know what type of DVD player it was, for it was a friend who did it for me).

How can I play it on my computer laptop Packard Bell Easynote (DVD station which can play everything) ?

In my case; when I put the DVDisk in the station it won't be read and the computer finds no content on it....and I am sure there is content because I have played it before on my DVD player connected to my TV.
Do I need to install a certain driver ??
Thanks
Karina.

Hi !
Thanks for the swift response !
I'm afraid it's not the programme that poses a problem. It's the reader of my laptop.
It doesn't seem to recognize the DVD. When I put the DVD in the reader it starts to run, clicks a few times and then stops. I do not have this problem with other dvd's. The difference however with the other dvd's is, that the one I'm trying to play is a recorded TV show, recorded with a home dvd recorder.

I have downloaded the recommended VLC media player. No problem. I already have a few similar ones. One more can do no harm.

So if you or anyone else can think of another solution I'll be the luckiest ever.

Looking forward to your replies.

Karina.

Hi,

Packard Bell may still prefer to have -R as their standard.
In other words, where most other have dual standard, PB may not be able to play +R.

My laptop is a Packard Bell Easynote E3268SE with a Combo DVD-RW.
I can play DVD Video, music CD's, can read CD-R, CD-RW etc..
I believe the problem lies elsewhere.

Some more information on the DVD disk itself :
it is a DVD-RW
JVC version 1.1/2x
1-2x speed
with CPRM
High quality for Data/Video DVD Re-Recordable
4.7 Gb / 120 min. Single sided.
Who can help me ?
