Windows 11 Task Switcher

Hello.

Got two issues.

1

I have a Windows 11 Pro system where the ALT-TAB is classic. Which is great, but I wanted to try the newer version. Looks like this I believe:

I have seen many different images online, but all pretty similar to that.

I spent time looking around for such a setting in W11 but I can not find it to look like the new version.

2

The other issue is mind boggling me here. For years, I always used ALT-TAB and with SHIFT, to navigate. Then a few months back on my W10, I found I can ALT-TAB and then use my arrows to navigate, instead of just going back and forth. I realized tonight on this W11 system, that does not work. I can not find a setting to change this. As for my W10 system, I did nothing to it to unexpectedly discover I can ALT-TAB and use arrows.

Any thoughts on these?

Thank you.

No, that is not it. I seen that suggestion many times, but all that really does is affect M$ Edge tab viewing (which, I have off). But, I did try all those other options in the list and still no go.

Hmmm........

Have you seen this registry edit?

Once you do the edit.
It is suppose to let you use the old W10 ALT-TAB system.

ALT-TAB works OK on my Windows 11.

Try this:

Modify ForegroundLockTimeout registry value
  • Press Windows key + R to invoke the Run dialog.
  • In the Run dialog box, type regedit and hit Enter to open Registry Editor.
  • Navigate or jump to the registry key path below:
  • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
  • On the right pane, double-click on the ForegroundLockTimeout entry to edit
its properties.
  • In the properties window, select the radio button for the Decimal under Base.
  • Then, set the Value data to 0.
  • Click OK to save changes.
  • Exit Registry Editor and reboot your device.

OR

Modify AltTabSettings registry value
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer
  • On the right pane, double-click on the AltTabSettings entry to edit its properties.
  • If it is not present, you have to create a new one. Right-click anywhere on the right pane and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value. Name the key AltTabSettings.
  • In the properties window, set the Value data to 1.
  • Click OK to save changes.
  • Exit Registry Editor and reboot your device.

That helped me but I needed to do the reverse.

That AltTabSettings already existed, but mine was a 1 (for classic which I have). I changed it to 0 and got the W11 version now to try out.

Same goes to Murf with the last suggestion being the same as well.

Thank you, all.
