Press F1 to Boot
Lately I am having to press F1 to complete the boot process.
I have an Intel 1.4 G CPU, Intel MB D850GB, 512 Rambuss PC800 and a Maxtor HD @ 40 G. There are 4 LEDs at the back of the system on the MB. At startup they go from yellow to green. Just prior to pressing F1 I noted that one LED was still yellow, checked the manual and it is for the "PCI Bus Initializion". Pressing F1 continues the boot process and all is normal after that. I cannot seem to locate why it is doing this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Last edited by eriebch; February 24th, 2003 at 02:13 AM. |

Right click My computer, properties, hardware, device manager tab. Find your USB listing and choose to disable them. After you disable them, reboot your PC to see if you still have to press F1...
Also take note while in there. See if you have any Yellow ! in there. |

Wow! prompt reply.
Checked as suggested. No yellow marks in the harware manager. I originally posted the wrong message. Typed USB instead of PCI. Sorry about that. Also should mention that I am running WIN XP Pro. |

Ok, in the device manager under System Devices. Find PCI Bus and right click on it and choose to Uninstall. Then right click and choose to scan for hardware changes. Let windows reinstall. See if that helps. If not, then go back to the device manager and try Updating the driver. You may need to go to the manufacturers web site and look for undated drivers for your Mother board.
Take a look at this page From Intel for hte latest drivers... |

Uninstalled the PCI buss and scanned for changes and reloaded the PCI buss. Rebooted and no change as yet. Still need F1.
Will check out that Intel site for any relevent updates and check back later. Thank you for now. |

Have you installed or uninstalled anything prior to this problem starting?
Have you been into the bios at all and made changes? I will be back to tomorrow to check in on this. |

I must appologize for the late reply as I have just gotten out of the hospital, pneumonia. Lucky aren't I.
Will check these out later. Thanks |
