Headset has echo
When I use my headset now I can hear myself talking and there is a echo. The person I'm talking with does not hear the echo. Do I need to buy new headset or is there possibly a way to fix this? This just started happening. I'm running Win 7 Prem
Thanks kuzzz The headset I'm using is 14- Plantronics Audio 628 USB |

Interesting. Is it possible the echo effect is the result of your voice coming from two places. One, your actual voice reverberating in your head as you speak and two, feeding into your ears from the phones. If that's the case there is a delay or latency causing the echo effect.
Look through your sound settings. Maybe someone is playing a joke on you and turned on the effect. I know Creative Sound Card Software has that ability. I'd imagine it would be reverberation or something rather than echo or an EAX effects. |

Open your softphone or voice recording/communications application and ensure automatic gain/volume/audio enhancements are disabled on it's sound settings
Try downloading their software/driver, may be newer than you have: https://www.plantronics.com/us/en/su...downloads-apps |

Does this happen on calls to other people as well?
The reason I ask is that with long distance calls by telephone, a delayed echo is due to the equipment at the other end of the call. Your voice travels along the path to the far end and, due to a fault, some leaks back on the return path. There is obviously a delay due to the processing time at each end. |

If it worked correctly before, you might consider doing a system restore back to a point prior to the issue. Just make sure Microsoft isn't allowed to update your hardware drivers automatically. I would never allow MS to update anything but security.

Hi kuzzz,
Are you using Skype, or some other APP that does Over IP communication? Check it's settings. See if it has had a program update. Check if the your USB Drivers for your Motherboard are current. Also as Appzalien said; Quote:
Look at the Windows Update History. Look for anything regarding Audio Driver, USB Driver Updates, and Driver Updates for your Plantronics headset. If you find one in the Windows Update History. Use System Restore. If that doesn't work. Go to Control Panel. Then go to Hardware and Sound. Click on Device Manager. Now look for; Audio Devices{Realtek, INVIDIA, Plantronics headset,Etc....}, and USB Devices. Click on them, {one at a time}. In the Box that opens Click on the Driver Tab. Look at the Driver Date and Version. If the Driver is new. Try the Roll Back Button. You'll probably need to restart the computer afterwards. Then see if that solved the problem. If not, go back to Device Manager and try the next Audio Device, or USB Device. If after going through all that, and it still has echo. Try contacting Skype{or whomever your using}. Tell them what your experiencing. They may have a work around, or patch to fix the issue. Signed: Ensign Tzap |
