CDR101: Not ready reading drive after formating hard drive
Trying to run the install CD for win 98 SE but get error message "CDR:101 Not ready reading drive E:" CD drive is fine - I can put a different CD in and run directory and it shows all files. But when putting in the win 98 disk the above error occurs. I use the win98 startup disk to create the ramdrive on D drive
Background - Just removed partitions to create one 3.6G C drive then formated drive successfully. now trying to reinstall win98 SE. Thanks |

If other CD's work fine then you have a faulty CD.
Try cleaning it. |

THe win 98 cd works fine on another pc. I actually have two win98 disks and neither work.
Both win 98 disks are on CDRs. Also, the cd drive (burner) is not the original on my PC. Is it possible that the drive can't read the CDRs (but can read regular CDs)? Any solutions? |

If it is sufficiently old enough then you could have problems with CD-R's.
Also, we cannot help with pirated software so you should get an original Win98 CD. |
