soup up old computer

I've got a three year old P4 2.0 ghz machine. Is there any way I could buy a new mother board with eveything built in (chip set, memory, old and new plug in slots that I could buy without spending 7-$800 That would just plug right in and sync to all my other stuff (HD, Video card, DVDWR,ect...?

What are you exactly trying to improve? Speed of applications, faster load times, adding more recent components (such as SATA drives, PCI express graphics card etc etc).

Depending on what you are after, it could be something as simple and cheap as adding more ram and giving it a faster, bigger hard drive.
