Caps Lock Causing Freeze
Hello,
I have Windows 98 and am having a problem with my Caps Lock key. If I press it, my computer freezes and I have to restart. The only procedure which prevents this from happening is as follows: I restart the computer in DOS mode and type in: smartdrv deltree tempor~1 (choose yes) deltree history (choose yes) deltree temp (choose yes) exit Then, for a reason unknown to me, my CD-RW drive and the Caps Lock key are functional once more. (the whole CD-RW drive isn't so big of a problem, I don't mind restarting, but I'm tired of accidentally hitting the Caps Lock key and losing all my information!) Please instruct me what to do. Thanks! |

To start with the easiest thing first, turn your keyboard upside down and give it a good shake. You never know what might be lurking around in there to foul things up.
If it's not a problem with the keyboard, check in Control Panel>Accessibility Options to see if Sticky Keys is turned on. If so, and you don't need that feature, disable it. Please post back with the results. |

with what you are deleting, tell about your harddrive, how big is it and how much available space.
