Installing small Linux distros
G'day Y'all.
I have a very old Acer laptop with 128mb RAM and 6gb HD. It can NOT boot from USB Flash Drive. It can boot MacPup_Opera2 and run it quite happily from CD. I want to install it to, and run it from the HD. I can't find a way to do it. Can anybody tell me how to do it please. Preferably. Step-by-Step. |

I do not know anything about that distro but see if this video helps. If nothing else, it could give you a place to start.

I dont know. Until I install something into it I don't know where to find out.
I do know that it was built for win98 and ran winXP sluggishly. |

I wasn't taking the mickey. At the time of putting in this cry for help. I had. 1 good 2 yr old Toshiba laptop (which sits in the lounge room as bought -with vista - for my wife to use. I also had:- 1 - Toshiba Satellite M40 - Sold with winXP but now running beautifully with MoonOS. 1 - LG LS50 (with a broken monitor) - sold with winXP but nunning beautifully with Linux Mint 9. 1 - Highlander N719 - Sold with winXP. This is the one I gave to my grandson a few years ago. He brought it back not working. It is the one that is behaving very strangely. I did get it to install winXP but although it recognizes all my Linux CD's. I can't get it to go any further with an install. 1- Acer which I cried for help on. Before I saw your instruction's on here, A 15 yr old grandson turned up to visit me. He had never looked inside a laptop. So, I allowed him to strip it into pieces, and hopefully, learn from it. I also let him take it home to try to put back together. If he can't, I will take some of the pieces and dump the rest. Now we come to the good part. I saw your instruction, and without thinking, went to the current non-working laptop (Highlander N719) and sent you the information out of that one. So. I apologize. Also, of course, This means that I have been putting you all to a lot of trouble over a pointless question. Because, If I don't have the laptop any more then I can't even try to fix it. So I apologize again. Regards. Dave. |
