wow. Hate to be the ******* in the room, but first of all, please put your question in the title, instead of plz plz...

If you want advice, dont get a Pentium D. Lol. Go to circuit city and buy a computer with a Athlon64 in it and 1gb of ram for like $500.

Out of these, you clearly go for the 2.6Ghz with 1G RAM

Go for the 2.6Ghz Pentium D with 1G RAM

In most cases, 512MB of Ram upgrade is much better than .2GHZ more processing power.

So I'm interested, how much are compy prices in lebanon?

What's wrong with Pentium D, other than the fact that AMD's are much better for gaming?

Or is that the same as an Intel Celeron D?

I'm such a noob with hardware...

Nothing is wrong with it. I just think there are better options, even within the Intel family. Maybe some sort of poll is required on this forum, as this is my opinion alone.

keylay31, others hold the same opinion

kowxisle, sure it is. Depends on what you expect from your PC, what you want it to do. For email & surfing, Celeron is fine.

SAYDAK, the advice keylay31 gave is good. Go with it.

the difference between the cpu 2.6&2.8 is about 50$
and the price of the 2.8 is about 200$
and the rams price are 55$ for each 512mb
so guys it better to me to go with the 2.6Gh and have 1G of ram and 224mb shared vga memory from my board
cz i using it sometime for palying ...empire 3 and need for speed ....!
it will go fine !!??

The 224 shared memory is actually what you might call 256mb. So you can go ahead and say 256 share memory. Do you have the option of putting in a video card? are you building this yourself, or are there several pre-built options?

Well, I dont know what's avaliable in your market or what your price range is, but if you want to do more than use the internet and word process, you're probably going to want to get a video card. I wouldnt spend too much money though, because you are going to be limited by the Pentium D.

If you can, check out the new Intel Duo Core, but they are expensive. Maybe try an Athlon you can get it for about $100 i think these days. If you stick with the Pentium D, i would get 1GB of ram, its much more helpful than having the more expensive Pentium D.

Hope this helps. Maybe if you could link to what your options are and how much you plan on spending, I could help you out more.

It is here that I sign off and ask someone with a little more knowledge of processors come in. I can explain to you the best of my knowledge, but it might be better with someone else.

If you want what I would put in my computer today, it is:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115003

or the slightly cheaper
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115004

There are less pricey ones as well. The Core 2 Duo is brand new tech, and runs on 64bits. plus, its cheaper and faster than any athlon.

Signing off.
Kyle
