CAT5e Ethernet cable

I really think I'm going daft but.. I'd just like to run this past you good people if I may.

I was looking to purchase some of the above with a view to installing my own wired network in my house.

I visited Amazon and found the following..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ideal I thought, I could snip the plugs off and use this. It arrived promptly and when I found the time I snipped off the plugs. When I looked at the wires their colours were not as I expected (I work with Cat 5 cable at work). They were all different colours instead of the usual white/colour, solid colour pairs. Not only this but they were not wound into pairs at all but they were all 'loose' wired for want of a better word.

I checked on the outer insulation sheath and it states clearly Cat5e UTP cable but it isn't.

I've lodged a complaint with them pointing this out and their response? ...

apologies can you indicate on this advert where it is advertised as a UTP?

Well, It just doesn't say UTP on the ad but it does say CAT5e Ethernet cable and I thought the definition of this cable was twisted pairs unless someone on here can confirm otherwise?

Thanks

It likely is Cat5e, but they didn't follow protocol when they made it. Since I assume they didn't plan for anyone to clip off the plugs and use it for some other purpose.
