new windows isnt right

okay my laptop was a little buggy so i tried to do a clean install of windows 7. the problem is that the screen resolution does not go as high as it should and i cant connect to the internet when i plug in my ethernet cable even though it acknowledges that it is in there and it doesnt even give me any options at all to connect to my wireless router. there are also 3 windows.old files that it wont let me delete. i tried running it in safe mode to delete them but it did no good. any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated

Hello,

Not too sure if this will help but have you tried to update the drivers for your network cards? You'd have to use another computer and transfer it via USB. Then a windows update should resolve the screen resolution as that happens to me whenever i wipe ans re-install a hard drive.

If you just do a normal windows update, which your computer will need after a re-install, then it will install all the needed updates. And as far as drivers, what make and model is your computer? As most computer companies provide an online support service where you can download software which is specific to your computer.

you need to go to hp's website on another computer, search for your specific computer model, and download the drivers for your specific computer. move the files to your computer and just click on them to install.

was win7 the original os for your computer?

You said you re-installed Windows 7 which came with the laptop. How did you reinstall, did you use a Windows 7 DVD or do a restore from the files that were already on the laptop?

If you did a factory restore then it should of loaded the drivers. Right click on "My Computer, then to "Properties" then to "device Manager" located in the left pane.

Click on the arrow next to Network Adapters, what does it show, also click on the arrow next to Display Adapters what does it show? Are there any yellow/red marks next to them, which tells you the proper driver is not installed.
