Sudo

Ok everyone I haven't used linux in a long time and I need to edit the grub.cfg, however the grub file is a read only. I used to know how to use sudo from the terminal so that I could get the permission to edit the grub.cfg file.
My OS is Ubuntu 11.04.
If someone could refresh my memory that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Jim

If your user is in the /etc/sudoers file (should be by default in Ubuntu), then you can use sudo by typing "sudo <some command>." In this case, you want to edit grub.cfg, so type "sudo nano /boot/grub/grub.cfg." If you prefer gedit to nano, then you will want to use gksudo, "gksudo gedit /boot/grub/grub.cfg."

Hope this helps.
