WMP 11 Stopped Working in Vista Home Premium

Hi:
My WMP 11 will not play any of my music library. As far as I know, I didn't change anything which should have affected it. All my music plays fine through QMP, VLC and Winamp media players. All of my music library album art and playlists, etc are still there in WMP 11, but the time elapsed counter moves VERY slowly, i.e. each second on the counter takes 3-4 seconds to tick by. And, of course, there's no audio output. Is there a simple way to just uninstall WMP 11 and re-install? TIA, Jeff

Hi:
Sorry it took so long to reply, I was out of town. Yes, I have Nero Ver. 7.9.6 . It has been installed since I did a clean install of Vista Home Premium a few months ago. Thanks, Jeff.

Is that the "Ultra Edition". It's supposed to be compatible with Vista however in view of past problems with WMP 11 created by Nero, I would be inclined to uninstall it. reboot and see if the problems go away.

Hi:
I uninstalled Nero and re-installed w/latest update for Vista. I still have the same problem , though. Anything I can do other than a reinstall of Vista? Perhaps a way to un-re install WMP11? TIA for any help. Jeff.

WMP11 cannot be uninstalled. It's part of your OS.

Try a startup repair Jeff. See here for more help.

Hi: Sorry it took so long to get back- I never found a solution, for my WD 500GB 16Mb cache drive went away on me and I had to replace it. I had all my music and guitar lessons saved in 2 other hdd's, and when i re-installed Vista HP on the new "C", it found all my files and worked perfectly! Thanks for all your help; I will continue to subscribe whether I need help or not! This forum is wonderful, as are you, AnnMarie! Thanks, Jeff
