Tutorial - Replacing Linux (Ubuntu) with Windows (Vista)
We understand that Linux isn't for everyone. If you've tried it and don't like it, you'll want to wipe it and put Windows back on.

Step 1:
You have a running Linux system (e.g. Ubuntu 11.04 shown) ![]() Step 2: Insert your Windows (e.g. Vista) CD/DVD and restart Linux ![]() Step 3: Press any key to boot from CD/DVD ![]() |

Booting Windows Setup
Step 4:
Press [ENTER] to start Windows setup ![]() Step 5: Wait ![]() Step 6: Select your language & keyboard input options ![]() Step 7: Click "Install Now" ![]() Step 8: Enter your Product Key from Windows Certificate of Authenticity ![]() Step 9: Accept the license ![]() Step 10: Select the Custom installation ![]() |

Linux removal and partitioning
Step 11:
Windows Setup should see your Linux partition(s) but will be unable to use them so click on "Drive Options (advanced)" ![]() Step 12: Select each Linux partition and click "Delete" ![]() Step 13: Click OK when warned about data loss (you want to remove Linux after all) ![]() Step 14: You should now have an unpartitioned (unallocated) disk. Click "New" ![]() Step 15: Allocate the full disk to Windows (Note: if you have a large hard disk, you may want to split it up at this point into a Windows partition and a data partition but this is not part of this tutorial) ![]() Step 16: Select your Primary partition and click Next ![]() Step 17: Wait while Windows is copied to the disk ![]() |
