What kind of file is it? The three letters following the dot in the attachment's file name tell you what kind of file it is. For example, ".doc" tells you it's a Word document.
If you don't see the attachment's dot and the three letter file extension, open My Computer and up at the top, click on Tools. In the menu that opens, click on Folder Options. In the Folder Options window, click on the View tab. Find "Hide extensions of known file types" and click its box once to uncheck it. Click OK. Close My Computer. Now open the email, look at the attachment and see what the three letters are after the dot. If knowing that doesn't help you, post back here with what those three letters are and we should be able to tell you what you need to open the attachment. |

Many thanks for your helpful advice. I found out it was an Excel file and I needed to download an Excel viewer. I did and now I can open my emails. Once again thank you for all your help - very much appreciated..
