Angry Burned out power supply

[FONT=Arial Black][SIZE=2][COLOR=Black]
I have an HP-8765C Computer. It has an AMD T-Bird 900 MHZ processor. I replaced the power supply with an identical power supply. The computer booted up and seemed to be OK. I shut down the thing and it would not come on again. Checked everything and discovered it has shorted the power supply again. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem or should i throw this HP in the garbage. Thanks Ault100

Is the computer on a surge protector? Have you checked the wiring in the wall?
