Help with Novell's SuSe Linux (hardware and devices)

Hello,

I recently decided to swtich to linux rather than Windoze.

I ran into a few problems with linux that windows could do:

1. How do I get my Palm Tungsten T|X to hotsync sucessfully (gpiolt can't even detect it)
2. My ATI Radion X700 gfx card isn't working to its fullest potential (says opengl and direct x dont work but yet my gfx card has them!
3. When i press play for the timed demo when Cedega askes me to, it just closes and nothing happens.

Well, those are all I can think of! If anyone knows how to help with them, please let me know!

Thanks

-Matt

This might help for your palm - http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-77387.html

Have you installed the ati drivers for your card yet? What does your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file look like? (if you could post it here that would be great, make sure you use the code tags though)

I'm not very familiar with cedega, but most likely its not working right because your card isn't using 3d accel yet.

Re: point 2

Once you have tried to install the drivers, execute:

Code:
glxinfo | grep render
To see if you have installed the 3D drivers correctly. ATI is a PITA to set up the drivers for and when you do they are average. I have read recently that we are very close to having open source ATI drivers that support 3D rendering.

I wont be trying that out, as i switched to Nvidia. So much better Linux support.

As for Cedega. Probably right what kage said. Try launching it from a Konsole to see what error messages are returned.
