Unable to connect to web

I'm reinstalling on my father's laptop (he got all messed up some how) and I cannot connect to the internet via a cable model and router. I went through the "make new connection" wizard with no success, there seems not to be an option to set up a lan connection.

Help
Andre

Welcome

Is there a Local Area Connection available in Network Connection panel?
Have you installed the NIC drivers?

No there is no LAN icon on the networking screen. Where would I find the NIC drivers, would they be on one of the discs that came with the laptop?
Thanks
Andre

Yes, or you should be able to download them.
