Keyboard types wrong letters

dell 1200 laptop press the backspace get a t,press the t get backspace,press spacebar get a b,press b get spacebar,scanned for spyware and virus already,system is clean as far as i can tell,anyway i can reset these or maybe the keyboard is defective?Thanks

If you're running XP, theres some kind of shortcut that switches the keyboard into 'accessibility mode' or something, because all the keys type funny, in no particular pattern. If you press ( I might be wrong, I found this a while ago )
Ctrl + Alt + Shift it should switch back. I do remember it being Ctrl, Alt and something else, but not delete. Maybe tab. But try it, it should work.
