Random Freezing after installing new Graphics Card

Hello, Recently I have replaced my ATI Radeon 7200 with a geforce 4 Ti4200. After updating my drivers online everything seemed to be running in working order when i did mundane tasks like surf the internet and brows through my saved pictures. But whenever i attempted a more complicated task, like installing a large aplication of a cd or running a big program like a game, my entire system just freezes up and the sound cuts out and is replaced with a high pitched beeping noise.

What are the rest of the specs on that system? And did you make any other hardware changes? And How is the cooling on your case?

When you installed the new card did you remove Ati drivers first? If not, you'll have to do this first. Then reinstall your video card. I hope those mountains of games will play on that Ti4200, some will if they are older but the newer ones.....no go.

Did you remove ATI's drivers and card before installing the new Nvidia card?

High pitched beeping noises can be bad memory, bad video card, bad cpu. Or simply a fan going out. Usually the CPU fan going out.

yea i uninstalled the old drivers first before i installed the new ones. Also the beeping isnt comming from the P.C speaker but rather the external ones.
