Christchurch (NZ) has just been hit by another big Earthquake

Quote:
Police said fatalities had been reported at several locations and that two buses had been crushed by falling buildings.

I'm feeling quite emotional at the moment, those poor buggars were just starting to get their lives back together again.

Let us know you are OK as soon as you can smurfy.

I'll say a prayer for them all. Hopefully smurfy and his family are ok.
This is beyond tragic for everyone involved.

Take care, Annie.

Haven't been on the boards for a while, but having seen the details on the BBC this morning, I just had to come here and express my sadness at this terrible news.

I hope Smurfy and others are all safe . .

The shaking is still going on relentlessly. You can view the activity in the link below.

http://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake/...nt_quakes.html

They estimate there are still more than 100 people trapped in buildings (it's now 8.23am in NZ) and bodies are still lying in the streets. They have had to amputate limbs to rescue people. The death toll is officially 38 (these are the people that have been identified) although it was confirmed last night that 65 have died and predictions are that the death toll could be as high as 400.

I have family in Christchurch but we heard late last night that they were safe. I still cant believe this has happened.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/chri...-in-the-street

We have had fabulous offers of support from other countries (US, the UN, the European Union, UK, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan) and specialist teams are arriving in NZ this morning from Australia to help with the rescue.

All of New Zealand is devastated by this news and offers of accomodation and transport assistance are pouring in for those who have lost their homes or just want to get out of Christchurch.

I'm so happy to see that you and Smurfy are safe. My prayers go out to all New Zealanders.
EDIT: I was confused by this previous thread, and thought that Smurfy had reported that he was ok. I hope that is still true.
