i was using windows 10 and i tried to make my system a dual boot Ubuntu along with windows.but during the process i lost windows 10 OS and all my data in the hard disk and the system became Ubuntu.
how can i recover those data's like they where before? if i switch to windows 10 can i recover my all data's? I don't even have back ups of my data Last edited by ramsivaprakash; June 13th, 2017 at 08:55 AM. |

I expect you allowed the Ubuntu installation to take over the whole drive rather than using a partition on the drive for the dual boot Ubuntu drive to use. If so it probably reformatted the drive into two linux compatable drives ext3 and ext4, overwriting the NTFS Win10 drive and all it's data.
I expect that anyone other than data recovery expert will be unable to recover all your Win10 data. |

before doing anything, you need to make sure you lost the drive and not the bootloader. when you installed ubuntu, the default is to install along side of win10. you would have to manually change it to install on full drive. go into ubuntu partition manager or gparted and see if it shows five different partitions. Ubuntu created 3 but windows should have 2 maybe 3 partitions too.

Yes, Renegade is right, that is a more likely scenario for what you are seeing, a lost boot loader rather than a lost drive.
