Problem with WI-Fi dongle connecting to router shown as installed but disconnected.

I have fitted a wi-fi dongle REALTEK USB Wireless LAN utility version 700.1694.1130.205 it installed ok but is shown on taskbar as disconnected ,I can't find how to connect it.I believe it needs some sort of security to stop neighbours from accessing it which might be the reason.

Did it come with instructions? Have you tried searching Realtek web pages for solutions, maybe a FAQ list?

Have you installed the driver software?

The usual way of installing devices that do not have the driver included as part of Windows 10 is:-
Leave the dongle out.
Download the driver software.
Install the driver software.
Plug the dongle in.
Wait for the dongle to find the installed driver.

Now yours may be the same, but you are going to have to read the instructions for anything that is different.
