Task Validation Task Error Message

I never to into the Task Scheduler but today I did and got the following:

"Task validation task: The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with"

Seems to be a fairly common error and I have no experience with dealing with the registry and am reluctant to do so. Can somebody explain what this is and what it might be causing?

Thank you.

If you upgraded to Windows 7 and the installation package you used included a security update (KB2305420), then this can happen. It is a registry problem. This generally happens when trying to do a backup. The first thing I would do is use the system file checker and see if it can be repaired:
  1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
  2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow
  3. The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Hi thanks very much for responding, I didn't upgrade but puchased a Lenovo computer with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed. I did a sfc / verifyonly and nothing wrong as found.

See no one else chimed in;

Have you tried to open Task Scheduler then you get this meassage?
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Click System and Maintenance.
  4. Click Administrative Tools.
  5. Double-click Task Scheduler.
Also your firewall may be blocking it. Are you just using the built in firewall for Windows 7?
