Hard Drive Failure Sounds . . .
Thanks Murf, for that list of sounds. Fortunately, my brand spankin' new laptop doesn't make such sounds. But there is one sound that has me disconcerted - it's a sporadic *click* or *pop*. It tends to sound off more right after the system starts up, but throughout operation it might make noise, too.
Now - the history. I bought this thing Friday. It worked fine that evening and all day yesterday. It still works fine, but for the subtle *click* or *pop* noise. Is this the beginning of the end? I cringe at having to return this system after just buying and programming the damnable device. But if I must, I must. |

UPDATE:
The good news is - it isn't the hard drive. After posting the message, I tried something - muting the speakers. The bad news is that it's coming from my speakers. |

Me personally, I'd return it. I know if you got it online you're looking at a wait.
But you should get what you paid for. Everything working properly. |
