Hey,

If anyones interested in DHTML and what it can do check this amazing site out ::::

Click Here

WARNING : You will have a full screen window forced on you. But you'll be glad you let it.

This site is awesome. Truely amazing.

If I was creating a site that was anything other than Tech Support I'd want it to look something like this. Problem with tech support is that the site has to be completely (well at least as close as possible) cross-browser compatible. Which not all DHTML is.

Thanks Bully.. I don't know what Kimmy was getting all defensive about up there. I was just asking.. sheeeesh.. tell yer girlfriend to back off a bit. and to quit editing her posts and adding content after their are replies below it.

And hey Bully I'm using Netscape! LOL.. got the full window.. no toolbar just like ya planned.

Maybe the confusion comes in because I'm on a Mac. On those full screen pages it just prevents me from altering the window size but I can always minimuze it. I hadn't thought about the answers being in the source.... oh and the right click thing never works on a Mac either just in case you were wondering. Man it's like I'm in a different world! Thanks fer the 'splanation!

Well Mishy, the only way round that would be to use a browser redirect script ( a script that looks at your browser and then sends it to the page that is suitable for the browser)
So Netscape gets sent to another page that is more compatable. The only drawback is you have to make 2 pages the same, one for explorer with the flashy dhtml on and a similar page for netscape without the dhtml.
Check out my new site, when it is finished, it is all done in dhtml and yes it is netscape friendly.
Yer i know this should be in the web design forum, so come on people av a go at the quiz.

Bully,

Yea I know what ya mean mate. You mean browser sniffers right ????

Well on and off I've been toying with the idea of using more SSI and by doubling up on pages but still keeping the same content I would effectively be doubling my bandwidth.

Like that Mishy

<script>
<!--

var n=navigator.appName
var ns=(n=="Netscape")
var ie=(n=="Microsoft Internet Explorer")
if (ns)
location="pageone.htm"
else if (ie)
location="pagetwo.htm"
//-->
</script>

Simple but does the job.

Hey Buzz rip my quiz if ya want to but don't say the frog is my girlfriend sheesh, now I am upset heheeh.
Your gonna give Dave bad ideas.
I wanna send you a fully locked full screen window by email if thats ok, cos i am curious if a mac can minimise it without pressing alt-ctrl-del.
I dont wanna be protecting a page knowing a mac can get passed it.
And you are the only on with a mac i know.

I am gonna start a new topic in websites and graphics to end the discussion of it in the quiz thread.

MiShY try the arrow keys or click the *wheel* on that site. I think they need a bit more work.
Say what you want to, but web gurus that toy around with the browser settings are like having someone handle the remote control for the TV&gt; I say no thanks, besides the look of a site has never made me return to it.

Edit: hey is there a new phrase yet I got the last one BuzzLightYear.

If the look of a site has never made you return to it, then why do people pay millions and millions of dollars every year to have sites designed by people like Bully? Or like Buzz, who is a graphics designer? I'm sorry Tram....but I disagree...it's tantamount to a successful site.

Ahhh damn it why can't I move half this thread and keep this half in Med&Dev lol

I agree with Tram. I couldn't care less how a site looks.

My main concerns when visiting any sites are....

Does it load quickly
Is it easy to navigate
Does it have the content I'm after ?

I couldn't care less whether it can make me a cuppa tea, and light my smoke for me.

If I wanted that I'd employ a servant lol j/k

MiShY

Kimmy your post has answered your question. Its why cars come in colors. When a guy shows his buddy his new car the first thing the buddy want to see is the engine, when a girl shows her girlfriend a new car the first thing they talk about is the color.

Case in point I hate having my browser toyed with but I returned to that quiz because it is fun.

I will say again the look of a site has never caused me to return, period. Oh and by the way how can I be wrong?
