Jim,
Do you have the restricted extras package installed? your flash-plugin needs to be updated. try ( in terminal ) sudo apt-get update. <password> then sudo apt-get upgrade. <password> Check for any error message while terminal is open and rectify if needed. after a reboot you should be firing on all six. If not we may have to look at another way of dealing to the problem |

Jim,
One more thing. You may find that some flash videos open ( try a variety of utube or older sites) That being the case you definately need to update/grade flash......... : |

I do not have any "restricted extras" package installed. I wouldn't know where to get it. I will try the update and upgrade.
Thanx Jim |

I installed all the restricted packages available and it still doesn't work. Like I said it worked before I re-installed ubuntu. Now that I re-installed I can't get it to work.

Do you have "flash-plugin" installed? be sure you do by looking in synaptic. While you are in synaptic, search "gstreamer" check that "good" "bad" and "ugly" are installed. If not. Select them and reload. You may have to reboot after installing packages.

I saw that the gstreamer "good" "bad" and "ugly" are installed, however there is something called -dbg at the end. I installed them as well. I will try now and let you know if it works.

jmnews51, if you open your browser and enter "about:plugins" as the address, you should be greeted with a list of installed plugins. Do you see anything called "gnash" or "swf" here?
