E-mail Spam Issue

Hi All,

I trying to fix a problem on a friend's computer & could use some assistance as I haven't been able to find anything online.

My friend computer is sending out emails to everyone in his address book w/ the following info...

Subject: good game, I've played for a moment for free. =
Email Body: http: // 203.155.74.91 / elib / blog / blog . html

Anyone know how I can fix this & prevent these emails from being sent.

He has an old pc w/ Windows 2000 & the emails are coming from his web based hotmail acct.

Thanks.

Hello,

It was a good idea editing the link, we don't want others to get infected as well.

Let's see what's running in the system.

Please download HijackThis from here. Click on the downloaded file to run it and select "Do a system scan and save a logfile". Use copy/paste and post back here the log it creates for review.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I would also like to see another kind of scan, go here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your AV queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here.
Please post back the HijackThis log and the Silent Runners log.
help!!
I just realized that my email account (hotmail) also sent out the same messages. I've seen friends with these types of viruses, but I have no idea how I got this virus (?), as I do NOT click on any suspicious links.
I just changed my password, and it seems to have stopped sending some out.. at least for now.
Please advise.
Welcome to CTH AAA,
As different systems require different approach, we are only working only on system per thread, please start your own topic. Just click the blue link in my signature and start by post your HijackThis log per my instructions in the previous post. Please be patient as it is a busy forum.
