Can't install...

Hey guys,

New to the board. I'm trying to download the Ipod software and my puter won't complete installation. Getting the 1607 error about installshield. I've done everything the Help/Support reccommended doing and I still can't get it to install.

I don't know what else is wrong

Welcome to CTH Zion. Have you updated your OS to SP2? If not do so and let us know if you still have a problem.

You can fix this from the Recovery Console. See here.

If you only have a Restore CD, try this, go here and download the file to create an XP Quick Boot Disk. Make sure you read the instructions first.

Once you have created the disk, power up with the disk in your floppy drive and see if Windows loads (you may have to change the boot order in your bios to boot from a floppy first though) and follow the instructions in this page for editing boot.ini. Click on the link How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP to see how to do this from within Windows.

That's great news Sandy and you are very welcome. Which option did you use (Recovery Console or XP Quick Start Boot Disk)?

I used the recovery tool boot disc method. Only thing now is every time i boot up the printer installs itself, strange, guess i will have to uninstall and try to reinstall that again and see if it straightens up.

I checked in my msconfig startup and for some strange reason it was there to load at each start up, I just unchecked it and fixed the problem,
Thanks!
