Hey!!!

Just wanted to let you know what processes (I know it's not plural but there's more than one) are needed before heading out the door

RED = Needed

ORANGE= Keep It Running If You Want

GREEN=Kill It.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSGSRV32.EXE Needed
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MPREXE.EXE Needed
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\mmtask.tsk Needed
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DDHELP.EXE Not Needed Only Should Startup When Activating Windows Media Player Tends To Like To Hang Out "With The Boys" When You Shutdown Windows Media Player.
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE Needed
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SYSTRAY.EXE Keep It If You Want. Turning It Off Will Not Affect The Performance
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WMIEXE.EXE Claims To Be Needed For Process Management I Never Had It On Mine.
C:\PROGRAM FILES\AMERICA ONLINE 9.0\WAOL.EXE AOL having it's period? This is the process to kill
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\AOL\ACS\AOLACSD.EXE Welcome!
C:\PROGRAM FILES\AMERICA ONLINE 9.0\SHELLMON.EXE You've Got Mail!
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SPOOL32.EXE Not Needed!! Only Should Startup When Activating Microsoft Word Or Activating Your Printer
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\AOL\AOLTPSPD.EXE Not Needed!! It's Supposed To Boost AOL's Speed IT DOES NOTHING!
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RNAAPP.EXE Not Needed
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\TAPISRV.EXE Always Comes On When You Are Downloading "Stuff" From A P2P Network Like Ares
C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIJACKTHIS\HIJACKTHIS.EXE
Keep in mind if you kill any of the red process, your computer will have a seizure. Kinda like the "OWNED" icon in my last reply. But this time you'll see a pretty blue screen with white writing with a bunch of digits following after.

I just noticed (From the processors) that you are using Windows 98 SE I had Windows 98 SE once.....

I'm feeling more like a fossil (Windows 98 First Edition) than ever before

Hope This Helps!

Hi aabbiill. Put the below startup back please. scanregw.exe scans your registry and makes backups at startup. This is an essential startup if your registry ever corrupts.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ScanRegistry] C:\WINDOWS\scanregw.exe /autorun

You can check which programs are required to run at startup here (N = No, U = User Defined in other words maybe, Y = Yes). Just feed in the filename and search.

Hey, no problem. I find Windows 98 users are just looking for answers to remedy the problem, and don't want to be bothered with the "U need 2 by a new cmputr wit Windoz XP " generation.

Yeah..

Like we should listen to a person who cannot tell the difference between to, too, and the number two muchless, spell correctly.....
