Black screen of Death
Hi all,
I am erisie and i have a problem with my windows xp. I am writing this from an other PC, cause i cant start my infected PC. If i boot my PC it starts normally, but when at BIOS its get an error: ----------------TRAP 00000006-----------EXCEPTION------------ i won't write the whole error cause it really is a lot. Maybe u all heard of 'Black screen of Death'. I searched on the web but coul'dn't find an solution. I already tried the following things: - I have set the BIOS to boot from CD. I putted the WXP cd-rom in the driver, but i cant install my PC. On my other PC i can Install WXP well. So its not a problem with the CD. - I tried a boot with my floppy. But also that didn't sold out good. PLS HELP-----PLS HELP-----PLS HELP-----PLS HELP-----PLS HELP-----PLS |

If it was a system error it would be on a blue screen, Never actualy knew about 'black screen' messages. When does the error occur? On boot up ? AFter XP loads ? Exactly when would be good, and the whole error message would also help!

Well, only at boot cause i installed the PC 3 years ago so thats not the problem.
I asked about this problem and many people say that it used to be on a blue screen, but i have it on a black screen. If u search google 'black screen of death' u can see the whole problem. Its kind a weird problem cause i cant do anything. I tried to re-install XP but the PC says there are files missing. But when i installed the other PC with the same CD i don't get errors. An i re-installed my other pc after the error. |

i googled for black screen of death but all they have is on windows 3.1, 95 or 98. There's a chance it might be a bios thing and not related to the OS at all.
Have you tried removing the cmos battery to reset the bios to default settings? |

Have you got a spare stick of RAM lying around ? ..... if so try removing the RAM and trying with a new stick, or if more than one stick installed, try removing one and running with just one and swapping them around.
